New Home Warranty Technician

The Role

The New Home Warranty Technician ensures new home warranty issues are addressed and contributes to maintaining Excel Homes’ reputation for superior customer service through timely and effective home warranty service. This role will service homes across the Calgary area.

The Responsibilities

  • Understand and assess the deficiencies in a new home to determine the appropriate action
  • Responsible for contributing to Excel Homes’ customer experience by attending scheduled warranty appointments at customer homes
  • Provide guidance and information directly to customers regarding the operation, maintenance, and care of their new home
  • Provide post-possession services and warrantable repairs including dispatching Trades for repairs
  • Review maintenance items with new homeowners
  • Assess and understand “on demand” maintenance requests from homeowners
  • Ensure completions of repairs to meet Excel’s standards of workmanship
  • Perform trade evaluations
  • Contribute to Excel Homes’ customer experience by receiving phone calls and emails from customers of a varied nature and aid in making strategic decisions
  • Utilizing effective oral and written communication
  • Building and maintaining trade relationships through a regular proactive feedback loop
  • Ensure adherence to Excel’s safety standards/policies and training requirements at all times
  • Required to participate in Service and Warranty meetings

Now Let’s Talk About You

  • We are looking for someone with “hands on” experience with home repair and maintenance skills, specifically drywall and paint repair
  • Experience in home repair with a strong ability to evaluate deficiencies
  • A firm understanding in both home maintenance and home function.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal directly with customers
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to investigate issues as well as determine the appropriate action
  • Can demonstrate time management and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in our systems required for inputting and updating data
  • Strong ability to work well with others and contribute to a team environment
  • Physical ability to fulfill responsibilities including 90% field work (Site Visits) that require light to high physical exertion, and 10% office work that requires light physical exertion

  • Knowledge of a variety of construction processes

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of programs is a MUST
