Taste of Calgary Festival
August is the month of festivals! It’s Calgary’s 19th year of the most appetizing outdoor festival, Taste of Calgary. It is held at Eau Claire's festival plaza (Barclay Parade and 3rd Street SW) from August 13-16, 215. Admission is free and the taste sampling tickets are $1. each. You will have an arrangement of African, Indian, Italian, and Asian flavours. Over forty of Calgary’s restaurants and beverage companies will be preparing the cuisine.
In addition, entertainers will be playing live on the Main Stage, there will be interactive activities, as well as artisans throughout the festival all in which are local. http://www.visitcalgary.com/things-to-do/festivals/taste-calgary-

GlobalFest
GlobalFest an international fireworks competition will take place in Elliston Park in East Calgary between the times of 6:pm – 11:3pm. China will compete on August 2th, Philippines on August 22nd, Spain August 25th, USA August 27th, and the grande finale Canada on August 29th.
GlobalFest’s website countdown states that it is 16 days away! The mission statement of the organization is “GlobalFest is a not-for-profit society dedicated to celebrating and showcasing Calgary’s cultural diversity and artistic excellence within our communities locally and across the globe. We are committed to producing an inclusive, world-class, multi-faceted arts and cultural festival that will enhance Alberta’s reputation as a truly international destination.” http://www.globalfest.ca/index.html

Fringe Festival
You have a few more days to check out the Fringe Festival as it wraps up on August 8th. If you haven’t heard of it before, it is a non-juried and uncensored theatre festival that takes place in Inglewood. Spectators can go between venues for an assortment of film, dance, theatre and improv. The first Fringe started in Edinburgh Scotland in 1947 and now we celebrate it right here in Calgary. You will be very entertained while you support our local talent with 1% of the profits going to the artists. !http://see.calgaryfringe.ca/home
