Okotoks Film Festival, June 2-4, 2017

Head to Okotoks the first weekend in June for the town’s first ever film festival. Enjoy screenings of over 50 films, including family and kid friendly flicks. Film buffs can also sign up for three workshops led by industry experts, including directors, producers and writers. An opening night reception and closing night party complete the three-day affair. The Fourth Street Lilac Festival is a much loved Calgary event that occurs the first Saturday in June. Join the thousands of locals – and visitors – who attend this all-ages street party in The Mission. Live music and dance performances, patio parties, and food truck fare are just a few of the exciting experiences on hand. The event, which runs from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, is free and pet friendly!

Bridgeland Cultura Festival, June 10, 2017

Visit Bridgeland Riverside on June 10th, between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, to celebrate the eclectic neighbourhood’s history, culture and character. Held at the Community Hall on Centre Street, the festival will feature live music, fantastic food truck fare and free activities for the kids.

JazzYYC Summer Festival, June 15-18, 2017

Tap your toes to cool beats at the JazzYYC Summer Festival. Choose from dozens of concerts throughout the four-day event, including a special show at the Taylor Centre of MRU with multi-JUNO award-winning pianist Renee Rosnes and bassist Neil Swainson. There’s also a series of free workshops held at the National Music Centre on Friday and Saturday, which focus on guitar, sax and vocals.

Neighbour Day, June 17, 2017

Calgary’s annual Neighbour Day occurs on the third Saturday in June. On this day, neighborhoods around the city host special events to celebrate their community spirit and pride. Check your local listings for block parties, picnics in the park, free concerts and more. Telus Spark is also joining in the festivities by throwing its 50###sup/sup### birthday bash on Neighbour Day this year. Admission by donation, free parking and a free barbeque lunch are just a few of the party highlights.
